Harry
Potter meets Dracula.
Well, not really, but you get the idea.
Jonathan Harker, Jr. joins forces with Doctor Van Helsing in battling a fiery apparition haunting the old Count's castle. At age thirteen he has no idea what he is getting himself into; and, in trying to shake off his parents' legacy, he finds himself, instead, picking up where they left off. In the meantime, the world has changed, and soon after they arrive in Transylvania, World War I bursts upon them.
Jonathan and the good doctor find themselves besieged by the old world alongside the new. But they are not alone in their struggle.
Quincey Devereaux hails from Texas and brings all his cowboy gusto with him into the fray. He, being the nephew of Quincey Morris who was killed in the deadly battle with the Count fifteen years ago, has his own reasons for being with them on this journey.
And among the Szekelys, the guardians of the Count's domain, they meet Sabina, a young girl with a wolf for a companion; Bacsi, an elder who holds all the ancient history at his command; and young Karoly, who befriends Jonathan and acts as his guide through this strange land.
Jonathan discovers from Sister Agatha, Abbess to the Bistritz Convent, and long time confidant to the doctor, that he and Sabina share a common heritage traced back to the Count. What he does not know is her belief that their special traits may provide the key to extinguish this new danger.
But first ,Jonathan must extricate himself from the Hungarian Army; after allowing his forced conscription to protect Sabina and the mortally wounded doctor.
And horror awaits Sister Agatha when she finds out the full price to exterminate the monster.
